Science Hill girls won their home opener 58-32 over Hampton on Thursday night. The Lady ’Toppers used an obvious advantage in the post to roll past the Lady Bulldogs.Gabby

Lyon, who signed with MTSU a day earlier, led the Lady ’Toppers with 21

points and 10 rebounds. She made 9-of-14 shots from the field.“It

felt really good to be out here with basically a new team,” Lyon said.

“You still have Tianna (Tarter), me and Keisha (Gregory), but some of

third quarter to put the game firmly in hand. Monica Olvera and Alexis

Bowers scored 10 points apiece to lead Hampton, which only got a single

point from its post.“Lyon, she’s the real deal inside,” Hampton head

coach Leon Tolley said. “We didn’t do a good job on the interior. We

have one of our 6-2 players out. We’re kind of short-handed, but I was

proud of our efforts. There is a reason why they’ve been runner-up the

last two years in Triple A.”It was Science Hill’s second win in three days, following a 55-37 win over highly touted Morristown West on Tuesday.“When

you look at it like we’ve beaten two good teams, it’s not bad,” Turner

said. “But, we’re looking at our potential and what we can do. We’re a

different team from last year. We’re a good team, but we have some
