For Daniel Boone, Friday night’s football game against Dobyns-Bennett will long be remembered as the one that got away. But for a young D-B squad, the remarkable come-from-behind win could be something to build on.Trailing by three points with 1:33 remaining in the game, D-B quarterback Josh Holt hit Caleb Cook with a long pass on fourth and 21 to keep the Tribe alive. That set up Trey Trammell’s 1-yard TD run with 27.7 seconds left that put the Indians ahead for good.Nick Sensabaugh sacked Boone quarterback Gabe Sanders in the end zone moments later to put the wraps on D-B’s 35-29 victory, a key Big 7 Conference triumph for the Indians. It was a tough pill to swallow for the Trailblazers, who snatched a 29-26 lead when Josh Bacon scored on a 2-yard TD run with 3:54 remaining in the fourth quarter.“They made that last drive, and that’s why they’re Dobyns-Bennett,” Boone coach Jeremy Jenkins said. “But we know this one is going to hurt us for a while because we let them off the hook.”Continue reading at Times-News.
