Garcia keeps Cards alive

The Appalachian League West is going down to the wire.Ronnierd Garcia drove in all five runs in Johnson City’s 5-2 win over the Danville Braves on Monday night at Legion Field in Danville to give the Cardinals their fourth win in five games.Johnson City remained 21?2 games back of the West-leading Greeneville Astros and two back of the Kingsport Mets with four games left in the regular season. Both the Astros and Mets also won Monday.Garcia hit a two-run homer in the fifth and an RBI single for the eventual game-winner in the seventh against the Braves. Both were with two outs.Garcia also doubled in a pair of runs to add some insurance in the ninth. Zach Loraine allowed one hit and struck out two in 12?3 innings of relief to get his third save of the season. Norge Paredes also kept the Braves scoreless for an inning. Will Anderson started and improved to 2-3 after tossing five innings.Johnson City (34-29) plays at Danville again today at 11 a.m.The Cards return home to close out the regular season with a three-game series from Wednesday to Friday against the Burlington Royals. All three games begin at 7 p.m. with gates opening at 6.The series will feature numerous promotions. Wednesday will be ETSU Pride Night with any fans wearing ETSU gear or with an ETSU ID admitted free. Thursday’s game will be the final T-Shirt Giveaway of the season with 200 fans receiving a Cards t-shirt. It will also be Dollar Dog Night with hot dogs available for $1.Friday’s regular season finale will be Fan Appreciation Night with free admission to all fans, as well as a pregame autograph session.
