ETSU's Jones gets clearance to play

Staff reports • Dec 11, 2012 at 8:43 PM

Some help is on the way for the East Tennessee State basketball team.

Fifth-year senior guard Jarvis Jones, who was academically ineligible for the first semester, was cleared to play on Wednesday. He will be in uniform Friday night when the 2-5 Bucs return to action at Ole Miss.

“He did what he had to do this semester academically and has been cleared to play Friday night,” ETSU coach Murry Bartow said. “Obviously he helps us. No. 1, he’s a fifth-year senior and right now we’re playing with all young guys. To get a guy out there with some experience is big. Plus, to get a guy out there who can dribble, pass and shoot, it will help us.”

Jones averaged 5.9 points a game last year and made 36 percent of his 3-point shots. He shot 33 percent overall.
