Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal asked a question: Does the GOP want to be the stupid party? U.S. Rep. Phil Roe seems to think so, now that he is cosponsor of a bill in Congress to abolish the income tax law.
Roe could amend his bill or a companion bill to move the Great Smoky Mountains to Florida. This would give Tennessee more flat land. His amended bill would have a better chance of passing.
Roe said he wants to improve Medicare for seniors. He is supporting the (U.S. Rep. Paul) Ryan budget plan that would increase our out-of-pocket costs by $6,400 per year as projected by the Congressional Budget Office.
Roe said in a news release that he is one of five doctors in Congress, and that none of them were asked for their input on the health care bill. I don’t know who the other four doctors are, but I thank God Roe was passed over.
Roe stated Obama, the president of the United States of America, took $2 billion out of the Medicare Trust Fund. The reality is that he used that money to extend the life of Medicare for eight more years.
Roe commented that he is receiving thousands of letters from people in the district asking for help in getting Social Security, Medicare and veterans’ benefits. The reality is Roe nor any member of Congress can get you those benefits — you have to meet requirements. Your neighbor may be able to help more.
