Right to bear arms when done responsibly

Published March 1, 2013

I think the National Rifle Association is doing a good job — in misleading the public, that is. Yes, Americans have a “right to bear arms.” It’s a part of our Constitution, but with rights and privileges come responsibility and common sense.

American divers have a right to travel across the nation, yet there are rules and regulations.

If you break the speed limit, misuse alcohol or engage in erratic behavior, you’ll find yourself in hot water.

Gun buyers should have certain legal restrictions, such as background checks, extended waiting periods, ammo limits and a ban on assault-type weapons.

Let’s stop the rampage of senseless violence and carnage.
