Born in Kingsport TN on November 9, 1929, she grew up in Coeburn VA, and after graduating from Coeburn High School moved to Bristol TN where she was employed by United Telephone Company. She later married Lee Roy Pickel, her loving husband of 63 years and was the devoted mother to Angela, Steve, Donna, and Tom. She was an active member of Wheeler United Methodist Church, the Alice Lee Barnes Circle and employed as a teachers' aide at Holston Elementary/Middle School for 17 years. She enjoyed outdoor activities, community service, cooking and entertaining family and friends.
Preceded in death by her mother Georgia Kate Slaughter Creech, sisters Edith Sexton, Betty McBride, and Louise Counts and brothers Carl and Herb Creech.
She is survived by her husband Lee Roy, brother Bob Creech, her children Angela Pickel Murray and partner Steven Denton, Steve Pickel and wife Annette, Donna Pickel and partner Raymond Ketron, Tom Pickel and partner Lisa Elliott, grandchildren Gini, Jaye, Jamie, Jared, Devon, and Christian Pickel, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Jaye and Laryn.
The family will receive friends at Wheeler United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm, services at 2:00 pm. with committal services to follow at East Tennessee Cemetery, Blountville, TN. in The Avenue of Flags. Pastor Chris Brown officiating.
