Ethel loved her flowers, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was very active and supportive in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives. One of her favorite places that she visited was Israel where she was baptized in the Jordan River. Ethel attended Mountain View Baptist Church in Johnson City and also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Stanley; her son, Darrell Stanley; her daughter, Barbara Sears-Hyder; two sisters and six brothers.
Ethel is survived by her daughter, Marshá Carroll (Lonnie). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew Potter (Lara), Denise Letterman (Derick), Shannon Potter, Darren Stanley (Kristin), Amanda Sears-Foster (Russ), Jacob Stanley (Ashlee), Cree Hyder (Lauren), and Katie Potter-Blum (Josh); and great-grandchildren, Darian Dixon, Daxon Letterman, Aubree Stanley, Zayden Hyder, Ella Hyder, and Kasen Stanley.
The family of Mrs. Stanley will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services of Johnson City, Tennessee. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 25, 2018 at the French Family Cemetery in McClure, Virginia.
