A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Paul “Hugh” & Marie Kyte Smith. Ricky was a 1965 graduate of Hampton High School. He served in the United States Army. He was retired from American Air Filter. Ricky was an avid Vols fan and loved to hear “its football time in Tennessee!” He also loved to watch the Lady Vols play basketball. He was of the Baptist Faith. He had lived most of his life in Carter County.
Survivors include three daughters: Lisa “Shelly” Smith Gambill, Johnson City, Christie Locklear and Vickie Locklear both of Elizabethton. One son: Marcus Smith, Elizabethton. Two brothers: Mitchell Smith and Billy Smith both of Hampton. One sister: Susan Bitner, Johnson City. Five granddaughters and one grandson. A very special friend, Betty Carpenter and his faithful dog, Smokey.
A Service to celebrate the life of Ricky Smith will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Pete Tackett officiating. His brother: Billy Smith will give a Eulogy.
