He was a native of Roan Mountain and son of the late Wiley and Maud Jarett Barnett.
Dee proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Atmos Energy after thirty five years of service. He was an avid guitar player. Dee also enjoyed listening to stories at the Storytelling Center
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Shirley Barnett, and Margie Francis; brothers: Teddy and Bob Barnett, and Wiley Morton; brothers-in-law: Ralph McGee, and Charles Thomas Barnett.
Those left to cherish Lloyd’s memory include his loving wife, Anita Crimble Barnett, his siblings: Jean McGee, Brown Barnett and his wife Nancy, Dallas Barnett and his wife Nancy; several special cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and many friends.
Dee’s family would like to offer a special thank you to the Doctors, nurses, and staff of the VA Medical Center, and to the staff of Avalon Hospice for the loving care they provided to Dee.
The family will Celebrate Dee’s Life on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor David Reece officiating. The family will greet guests following the service from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm in the Sunset Room of the funeral home. A Graveside Service with full Military Honors will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 am.
