Martha Ethel Malone - JOHNSON CITY

Mrs. Martha Ethel Malone, age 83, of 1402 East Holston Ave., entered into rest on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at Asbury Place.

She was born January 14, 1926, in Mountain City, TN, was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maggie Anderson Burkett. Later she relocated to Johnson City for about 10 years, then to Warren. Ohio where she lived for 35 years and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she worked along with Mary Bledsoe as a kitchen assistant and as a member of the Church Bowling Team.

She returned to Johnson City after the death of her husband and became a member of Grace Temple Church, Eternal Life Center, where she was a faithful member until her health failed her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Malone; two sons, Robert G. Malone and Charles D. Malone; and a daughter, Bettye J. (Jackson) Baler; and special friend, Mary Bledsoe.

She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Susie (Charles) Rollins, Nancy (David Sr.) Dugger, Annie M. Hale and Brenda J. Elmore, all of Johnson City, TN; a son, James R. Malone, Johnson City, TN; 21 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; and 13 great, great, grandchildren; a sister in-law, Mabel Goins; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friends, Nancy Goins, Boston, MA, and Mary Goins, Bristol, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Grace Temple Church, Eternal Life Center, 208 Garden Drive, Pastor Mark Redd, officiating.

Burial to follow at Washington County Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM prior to the services and at other times at the residence.
