Mary (Hyder) Wampler, 90, of Johnson City, passed away January 17, 2013, at The Appalachian Christian Village.

A Native of Limestone, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Hyder.

Mary was a RN at Johnson City Memorial Hospital for 33 years. She was a longtime and active member of The First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City. Mary was an avid knitter and enjoyed the outdoors.

Mary leaves behind her only son, Lee Wampler, of Johnson City; a granddaughter Avis Wampler and husband, Vincent Grey, of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Daryl Hyder, of Colonial Heights; two sisters, Dorothy Sherfey, of Sulphur Springs, and Eva Rowan, of Johnson City. Many loved nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey L. Wampler.

Mary’s wishes were to be an anatomical donor to Quillen College of Medicine.
