Ethel Turner

Mrs. Ethel Carr Sumner Turner, 90, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.

A native of Bluff City, she was a daughter of the late Fleming & Lena Lilly Carr. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton.

Mrs. Turner was a Seamstress. She loved Gardening, Sewing and was a Lady Vol Fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dewey Sumner; her 2nd husband, Richard Turner; three brothers: Raymond Carr, William “Bill” Carr and Kenneth Carr; and two sisters: Mae Blalock and Molly Morgan.

Mrs. Turner was a member of the Belle Meadows Baptist Church, Bristol.

Survivors include Three Sons and Two Daughters-in-Law: Jerry & Junette Sumner, Larry & Darlene Sumner and Steve Sumner, all of Elizabethton; Four Grandchildren; Ten Great Grandchildren; and One Great Great Granddaughter; One Sister: Ruth Hagaman, and a brother: Claude Carr, both of Bristol; Several Nieces & Nephews; A very special friend: Demetris Cain.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dewey Williams officiating.

Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in the Morrell Cemetery, Bluff City.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and the Staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital for the excellent care that was received.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday.
