
Cling Phillip Harris, Sr., age 71, 108 Banner Street, Erwin, entered into the arms of the Lord, at 12:31 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
A lifelong resident of Erwin, he was a son of the late Harry M. and Lela Belle West Harris.
Mr. Harris was a 35 year employee of Nuclear Fuel Services until his retirement in 2003.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict.
Mr. Harris was a devoted member of Higgins Chapel Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and fishing with his grandson. He was also a special guardian to the family cat, Devonne.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie Yvonne Booth and Mary Virginia (Jean) Bonar; one niece, Pamela Boone Harris.
Mr. Harris is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Emeline English Harris; one daughter, Sherry Melissa (Missy) Harris; one son, Cling Phillip Harris, Jr. and wife Pamela; one granddaughter, Natalie Smith; one grandson, Nathaniel Harris; five brothers, Lester Harris and wife, Arlene, Bill Harris and wife, Beatrice, Earl Harris, Duke Harris and wife, Evelyn, Johnny Harris and wife, Judy; one sister, Marsha Harris Poore; mother-in-law, Barbara English, all of Unicoi County. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A special thanks from the family goes to his daughter-in-law, Pamela Harris, his brother, Earl Harris, the Veteran’s Administration and Mountain States Hospice for all the extra support and care during Mr. Harris’ illness. Thanks is also given for all of the heartfelt prayers from family and friends.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012, in Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Edward Hoyle will officiate.
Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
Active pallbearers will be Bobby Boone, Mike Sams, Allen Patton, Brandon Patton, Robbie Patton, Anthony Harris, Steven Harris, and Christopher Hampton.
Family will receive friends at home, 108 Banner Street, Erwin.
