
Martha Salley Thompson, 96, passed away on November 29, 2012, at Holston Manor in Kingsport, Tennessee, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born April 15, 1916. to the late Robert and Phoebe Caldwell Salley in Arno, Virginia.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Martha was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.
She was a member of the Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church in Gray, Tennessee, and loved attending Mrs. Lasley’s Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Thompson; Son, Gerald Thompson; Great Grandson, Joshua Thompson; Great Granddaughter, Megan Thompson; and brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Thompson and wife, Mildred, of Johnson City, Tennessee, Tommy Thompson and wife, Emma, of Kingsport, Tennessee; One Daughter, Judy Vicars and husband, Willis, of Kingsport, Tennessee; Daughter-In-Law, Shirley Thompson, of Derby, Virginia; Three Grandsons, Gerald Thompson Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Kingsport, Tennessee, Mitchell Thompson and wife, Tabitha, of Nashville, Tennessee, Adam Vicars and wife, Sarah, of Greenville, South Carolina; One Great Grandson, Brandon Thompson; One Great Granddaughter, Ashlee Thompson; Twin Great Grandsons, Van Vicars and Elijah Vicars; Several Nieces and Nephews.
The family of Martha Thompson will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 2, 2012, at Tri-Cities Funeral Home with Funeral services to follow in our chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Gene Lasley officiating.
Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Family and Friends will serve as Pallbearers.
