
Walter Seek, 72, a local business owner in Johnson City, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2012.
He consulted as a structural engineer at Walter Seek Engineering for over 30 years and was deeply devoted to his clients and practice. He earned degrees in engineering from Lehigh University and the University of Maryland, and served in Europe with the Army Corps of Engineers. He enjoyed nothing more than flying and was a glider pilot and a member of the Blue Ridge Soaring Society in New Castle, Virginia.
He died as he hoped to, at home and at peace, surrounded by family telling stories until the end.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy, and three children, Julie, Michael, and Amy, as well as seven grandchildren, his sister, brother, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Seek will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 13 in St. Paul’s Church, Laytonsville, Maryland, and locally at 2:30 PM Sunday, October 21, 2012 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Johnson City.
