A 36-year-old Del Rio woman died when her truck crashed into the French Broad River on Friday afternoon, the Tennessee Highway Patrol reported.

According to a report written by Trooper John Woods, Nancy M. Turner died in the 3:30 p.m. crash. Turner was driving a 1989 Chevrolet pickup on Fugate Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, down an embankment and into the French Broad River and floating about 220 feet downstream.

Alcohol did not appear to be a contributing factor the report stated, although the victim was not wearing a seat belt.
