MARYVILLE — Searchers have found the body of a young man who disappeared in Tellico Lake when a canoe overturned.

Witnesses said three friends were in a canoe Sunday afternoon when the vessel tipped over.

The Daily Times (http://bit.ly/ZN6y1F ) reported one of the men swam to shore, another stayed with the swamped canoe and was rescued, but the third man disappeared underwater.

Marian O'Briant with the Blount County Sheriff's Office said the recovery was made about 2 a.m. Monday.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency led the investigation and did not immediately release the victim's name.
