Man to face hearing on theft charge

A Johnson City man is scheduled for a hearing in Sessions Court this afternoon for allegedly selling a vehicle that did not belong to him to a local recycling center in October.

According to Johnson City Police Department news release, Gary L. Hammonds, 25, 1412 Browns Mill Road, was arrested March 4 following an investigation into a report by the vehicle’s owner that it had been stolen.

Hammonds was charged with theft of property under $500 and was being held in the Washington County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
