Originally pulled over for a headlight violation, two juveniles were ultimately charged with alcohol and drug offenses by Johnson City police.

Police did not name the boys in a news release but said Monday officers found about 21.4 grams of what was thought to be marijuana in the vehicle during the traffic stop.

The driver was also charged with juvenile DUI and a light law violation.

The passenger had an odor of alcohol on his breath and was also in possession of a digital scale, a glass pipe and rolling papers, police said.

Police charged him with underage consumption of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both boys were charged with possession of marijuana for resale and released to their parents.

The boys were scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court Jan. 18.
