BLOUNTVILLE — A Bristol man faces charges of child neglect and DUI after allegedly crashing his vehicle in the drive-thru of a Blountville fast food restaurant.

According to statements from employees, the building moved when struck by his Ford pickup. A deputy responded to find two children, ages 2 and 7, inside the vehicle, while the driver allegedly admitted to taking a morphine pill. He reportedly "thought it was fine" to operate a vehicle while under its influence.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 Friday night at the Burger King on Blountville Bypass, directly in front of the Sullivan County Justice Center and Sheriff's Office. A deputy responded to find Robert Schenker, 42, of 134 Mapleview Drive, Bristol, Tenn., standing beside his 1985 Ford pickup. The vehicle reportedly suffered disabling damage to the left front, while an iron fence that was supposed to be connected to the Burger King building was laying in the parking lot.

I know there has to be at least one honorable judge out there that reads these comments. Please, start 2013 off by making examples out of DUI offenders. 10,000 people die every year in the USA because of people driving while intoxicated. These 4th, 5th, 6th, etc, DUI offences should not ever happen. These habitual offenders are going to eventually kill someone and then it would not surprise me to see a massive civil lawsuit filed against the last convicting judge and the state of TN for not adequately protecting the person who got killed or hurt. I challenge TN lawmakers to do something about this epidimic. Please before it is me or my family that gets killed.

Where does this say he's a habitual offender?

Fizz, the article doesn't refer to habitual offenders. I was just expanding the conversation to show part of why so many innocvent people die each year.

I'm going to be optimistic on this one. Maybe the guy has a legal prescription for the morphine, it was the only drug in his system, and it will be a one-time incident. But the two year old in the wrong child restraint was just stupid. Walmart has restraints appropriate for a two year old in the $35-$50 price range.

Who doesn't know that you are not suppose to drive under the influence of anything not just alcohol? I am amazed at the people who reproduce and raise children without any kind of common sense at all. Please stop having children if you do not understand what "under the influence" means.

Cut him a break already. I'm sure he was starving and, judging by this picture, he looks satisfied. Probably got himself a chicken sandwich and cold drink. And a DUI.
