A Johnson City man faced multiple charges after an altercation with police Sunday during which he bit an officer, police said in a news release.
Timothy Gunn, 33, 805 Earnest St., Apt. 5, was arrested at Tipton Street Pub, 110 Tipton St., after police responded and found Gunn restrained on the floor by bar security.
An investigation indicated Gunn appeared intoxicated when he entered the bar and displayed a large amount of marijuana to an employee. When asked to leaved, Gunn reportedly tried to assault the employee.
As police were trying to place Gunn in a police cruiser, he resisted, kicking at officers and biting an officer’s finger, police said.
Gunn refused to release the bite and had to be forcefully brought into compliance before being transported to jail.
He was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assault on an officer and possession of schedule VI narcotics for resale.
Gunn was being held in the Washington County Detention Center on $23,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in Washington County Sessions Court today at 1:30 p.m.
