A Johnson City man was arrested Saturday after he broke in to an occupied residence, a police news release said.

Claude A. Burrell, 38, 2611 Watauga Road, was arrested following an investigation into a burglary, in which he broke into a residence, stole a house key and lay on the couch. He was taken into custody without incident after police arrived, police said.

He was charged with aggravated burglary and vandalism over $500.

Burrell was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and was being held on $30,000 bond.

He was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on Monday.

Well, at least he has a bed to lie on now, and three meals a day. Sometimes homeless people do these little things for that specific purpose. It would have scared me to death to find this guy on my sofa but he must have really been desperate. Vey sad.

I get the feeling there is more to this story. I wonder if he knew the person whose house he broke into?
