Telford man's domestic charge brings request to revoke bond from a prior charge

A state prosecutor filed a motion late Thursday to revoke the bond of a Telford man arrested on a domestic charge on Monday while free on bond on a vehicular homicide charge that he received in May.

Both charges involve alcohol and an argument with a woman.

Brandon Pickering, 21, 123 Ferd Henley Road, Telford, was free on a $100,000 bond in the fatal crash involving his then-fiancée, Britany Hankal, when he was arrested this week on a charge of domestic intimidation of his current girlfriend, Tiffany Broyles.

Pickering’s family posted the first bond through a bonding company and Broyles posted the $1,000 bond on the new charge, according to records filed in Washington County Criminal Court.

Hankal’s family was alarmed and upset to hear of Pickering’s new charge and that he was allowed to post bond even though he was on bond at the time.

“We were told … that if he got into any trouble he would be locked up. We’ve kept our mouth shut for six months because we don’t want to jeopardize the case,” said Hankal’s sister, Ashley Irvin. “We’re going to do everything we can to get his bond revoked.”

Ray said her concern about Pickering’s new charge is his continued use of alcohol when Pickering’s already facing an alcohol-related fatality charge.

Pickering’s blood alcohol content was .08 several hours after the May 10 wreck that killed Hankal. According to a document filed by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Pickering said he drank two 40-ounce beers between 8 p.m. the night before and 1 a.m. He was driving too fast on Telford New Victory Road that night, lost control and hit a tree.

The two apparently had an argument prior to the crash, according testimony at a preliminary hearing held last month. The case was bound over to a grand jury at that hearing.

Hankal’s mother, Kim Foster, said she realizes there’s a process for the case to work it’s way through the judicial system, but “the bottom line is he was out on a $100,000 bond,” and was not being monitored.

In the new case, Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Bradford responded to the Telford address where Pickering apparently lives and found Pickering and Broyles in a back bedroom. Broyles was “sitting on the bed crying and shaking as (Pickering) was standing over her,” Bradford wrote in a court document.

The two were apparently arguing “about the victim’s family” and Pickering “stated he had been drinking.” Bradford also stated Pickering appeared to be intoxicated.

Pickering told Bradford “he was upset and screaming because of the argument and began kicking things.”

Pickering is scheduled for a Nov. 30 hearing in Criminal Court on the motion to increase or revoke his bond.

As usual, idiots are drawn together like iron bits to a magnet. She gets his immature, foolish butt out of jail where he should have been all along, so he can argue with her and perhaps beat her sometime down the road because guys like that never have any respect for women. She's out $100 bucks and he'll wind up back in jail anyway. Will she go sell her soul for his bond next time ? Tsk Tsk Tsk...

First off "This women" isn't the one who posted bond for Him it was his mother. My deepest sympathy to Brittany's family. Like in any situation there are two sides to every story. In this there are two families. Every body feals bad for Brittany's family but what about Brandon's family? They are having a hard time with this to. True he did something wrong and he is going to pay for that. He knows this and so does his family. All I am saying is maybe you should watch what you say because they aren't just words to his family they hurt. He made a mistake but deep down he loved Brittany.
