A Johnson City man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an array of local burglaries, making it the second arrest so far in the investigation, a Johnson City Police Department news release said.

According to the release, Matthew Dylan Norris, 18, 240 S. Broadway St., was linked with burglaries that occurred between mid-September and mid-October, which occurred at seven local churches and the Legion Street Recreation Center. Four vehicles were also allegedly stolen from the sites of some of the burglaries, all of which have been recovered by police.

The release said investigators found stolen property linking Norris to the investigation, which was also how they located and arrested the first alleged suspect, Jaremy Taylor Kazen, 18, 268 W. Main St., No. 13, on Oct. 20.

Norris was charged with seven counts of burglary, two counts of theft of an auto over $10,000, two counts of theft of an auto over $1,000, four counts of theft of property over $1,000 and theft of property under $500.

He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and was being held on $141,000 bond. Norris is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court today at 9 a.m. Kazen was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on Oct. 22.

It appears that he was stealing from people who were trying to help him. Sad!
