Man charged with stabbing one, assaulting three with knife in two-day period

A Johnson City man was arrested Wednesday on charges that he stabbed someone on Sunday and assaulted three other people with a knife the following day, police said in a news release.

Mario Hernandez Merino, 24, 304 Royal Circle, No. 50, was charged with four counts of aggravated assault.

Police said Merino stabbed a person at 509 W. Main St. on Sunday and assaulted three people at his apartment complex on Monday.

According to a police report, the stabbing victim from Sunday, Humberto Hernandez, 24, had severe lacerations to his chest. Police reported seeing blood on the steps of the building and on the floor. Hernandez was taken to Johnson City Medical Center. No information was available Thursday on his condition.

Merino was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $50,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance today.
