A woman was arrested Tuesday following an investigation into stolen checks at local businesses, according to a police news release.

According to the release, Valerie N. Saylor, 30, 112 Mountain View Circle, was charged for allegedly writing and stealing checks and forging the victim’s name on the checks.

Saylor was charged with two counts of forgery under $500 and theft under $500.

She was being held in Johnson City Municipal Jail on $4,000 bond, pending a court date.
