Kingsport man charged with attempted murder in butcher knife attack on ex-wife

Police report a Kingsport man is charged with attempted murder after allegedly attacking his ex-wife with a butcher knife, leaving her with, "lacerations all over her body."

James Michael Johnson, 48, of 524 Stapleton Drive, was arrested in the Wednesday night incident. Kingsport police responded to the victim's home, apartment B-2 of Model City Apartments on Stonegate Road, at approximately 10:39 p.m.

Police arrived to find Ray suffering multiple cuts. She reported Johnson, her ex-husband, had arrived at her residence intoxicated and attacked her with a butcher knife.
