Team assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. will soon be examining the Washington County Sheriff’s Office’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

According to the release, CALEA assessors will arrive Sunday to determine if the WCSO meets the Commission’s standards.

Agency employees and community members are invited to a public information session Monday at 5 p.m. at the Washington County George P. Jaynes Justice Center, 108 W. Jackson Blvd., in Jonesborough, where they are welcomed to share comments on the agency’s ability to meet CALEA’s standards as part of the on-site assessment.

The public can also call 788-1516 on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. if they cannot make the information session but still want to comment.

All comments, by phone or in person, are limited to 10 minutes. Written comments concerning the WCSO’s performance and reaccreditation can be sent to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainsville, VA 20155.
