Defense attorneys requested and received a delay in the preliminary hearing Thursday for accused killer Steven Odell Bennett.

In Washington County Sessions Court, Judge Robert Lincoln postponed Bennett's hearing until Oct. 30 at 1:30 p.m.

Bennett, 31, is charged with second-degree murder in the Sept. 29 strangulation death of Vonda Vonda Berry Marshall Donaldson. He's also charged with abuse of a corpse, as investigators say he dumped Donaldson's body off the Butler Bridge in Carter County after killing her in Johnson City.
