Boy dead in Jeep in SE Tenn. river

WHITWELL (AP) — Authorities are investigating an incident in which a dead child was found in a Jeep, which was in the Sequatchie River at Whitwell.

According to WRCB-TV (http://bit.ly/TaeDKj ), sheriff's detectives said the dead child as about eight years old. Investigators said the boy did not drown and the state medical examiner will determine how he died Saturday night.

Police said they charged the driver, Nicholas Mosier, with DUI, possession of prescription drugs, felony reckless endangerment, and aggravated child abuse and neglect as well as traffic charges. A passenger, Lindsey Newsome, faces aggravated child abuse and neglect, felony reckless endangerment and also a prescription drug charge.

Newsome is reported to be the boy's mother.

Both were held in the Marion County Jail Monday and there was no record of attorneys for them.

The child's family? Where were they protecting this child? I didnt see any kidnapping issues. Families are highly overrated and lead to the demise or messed of future for many of our teens!

Wonder why the paper had an article about inc CPS referrals and not enough staff to answer? Luv hav folks that don''t hav a clue about these kids lives are making the decisions. Job security for the adult mental health population! Makes me sick!
