American Eagle to begin air service to Chicago from Tri-Cities Regional Airport

BLOUNTVILLE — American Eagle Airlines will begin offering direct nonstop flights to Chicago O’Hare International Airport from Tri-Cities Regional Airport beginning on July 2, TCRA officials announced Monday.

Last year, TCRA was hit hard by the Delta-Northwest Airlines merger. The airport lost flights to two hubs, with Delta canceling all flights to Detroit and and Memphis. TCRA’s only other network carrier, U.S. Airways, cut 23 percent of itsavailable seats during the time period.

Delta reinstated one Detroit flight from TCRA on March 1.
