Kingsport man apologizes for wreck, hits other driver twice with car while fleeing

A Kingsport man was arrested Tuesday after rear-ending a truck with his car, then striking the other motorist twice in the leg while attempting to drive away from the scene.

After each collision, the suspect reportedly exited his vehicle and apologized to the victim, then attempted to flee once again.

The initial wreck occurred at the intersection of Lynn Garden Drive and Virgil Avenue, around 12:30 p.m. A 1998 Ford Ranger driven by Christopher Raines, 49, of Kingsport, was attempting to make a left turn from Virgil Avenue onto Lynn Garden Drive.
