Former East Tennessee State All-American Garrett Willis captured a one-stroke win on the Nationwide Tour on Sunday, winning the WNB Golf Classic in Midland, Texas.

Willis moved to No. 6 on the Nationwide Tour money list, all but assuring him a PGA Tour card for next season. The top 25 money winners in Nationwide move up to the top circuit.

“It’s almost a surreal feeling,” Willis said. “I was kind of expecting this grand explosion of emotion and I suppose that will come at some point. This is our job and what we set out to do each year.”

Willis, an All-American first teamer at ETSU in 1996, won his first PGA event in 2001 and has since had multiple other victories on tour. He has exceeded $2 million in career earnings.
