Illnesses again close Carter schools

Carter County Schools will be closed Friday and Monday after student attendance rates dropped from 84 to 80 percent and teachers and bus drivers were unable to attend work because illnesses, administrators said Thursday.

Students and staff were afflicted with the flu and strep throat, according to officials.

The district shuttered schools last month for similar reasons, along with most of the school systems in Northeast Tennessee.
