Re-elect Eldridge

ROBERT OWENS • Apr 28, 2014 at 11:37 AM

In the upcoming Washington County election, all races are important. However, one has critical significance — the county mayor’s race. For the past three years, we have been extraordinarily fortunate to have Dan Eldridge, who would be a credit for any county in Tennessee as chief executive. From the time I met Dan, I have observed his outstanding career. He was extremely successful as owner and CEO of a business in a very competitive industry and had the good judgment to change his career direction at the peak of that industry’s operations. He could have rested on his laurels and lived a life of leisure, but instead he decided to direct his talents and ability to the benefit of his chosen county. As a result, he has had a highly successful term as mayor, overseeing many improvements while stabilizing the financial position of the county and doing all this with no increase in taxes. He has demonstrated the vision and strength it takes to function successfully as our county mayor.I have known Dan for 23 years, having met him due to his wife, Tammy, who served as director of human resources for the organization where I served as CEO. She demonstrated the abilities, values and commitment that I later saw in her husband. They and their three children are an example of the values that make America great. For the sake of Washington County, the re-election of Eldridge is critical.ROBERT OWENSJohnson City
