KNOXVILLE — A 60-year-old University of Tennessee employee been identified as the motorist whose rolling car trapped her against a Fort Sanders parking garage wall Monday morning.

Phyllis “Sally” Carter, a supervisor in the UT College of Law Library, was found dead about 5:57 a.m. in the garage in the 1700 block of White Avenue. Carter, of Maryville, had worked at UT since 1979.

According to officials, a black Toyota Prius crashed in the garage on the first level, just inside the entrance near 16th Street. UT spokeswoman Karen Simsen said the structure is referred to as the White Avenue garage.

She was found by her husband after efforts to reach her by cellphone were unsuccessful.
