SW Virginia man faces child pornography charges from online file sharing case

ABINGDON, Va. — A 48-year-old Abingdon man was arrested Thursday on multiple child pornography charges.

Michael Clifton Necessary, Woodland Hills Road, was charged with seven counts of possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation and facilitation of child pornography.

Sheriff Fred Newman said Necessary's arrest resulted from an investigation into online sharing of child pornography files. It was a joint investigation conducted by the Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Office and other Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children District 7 task force agencies.

Necessary was released from jail on a $10,000 bond.
