GATE CITY, Va. — A Southwest Virginia couple accused of abusing a 14-month-old child to the point it was hospitalized with skull fractures had their cases bound over to a grand jury during a preliminary hearing Monday in Scott County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Donald Wayne Snodgrass, 29, of Nickelsville, previously pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated malicious wounding of a child and a single count of felony abuse and neglect that stem from his August 2013 arrest by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
Charges against the child’s mother — Crystal Gail Smith, 22, of Nickelsville — were also bound over Monday. Smith, who was allowing Snodgrass to live with her at the time the alleged abuse occurred, was arrested on a single count of felony abuse and neglect. She has also pleaded not guilty.
