Johnson City police said a woman lied Sunday when she reported her car stolen after crashing it on Interstate 26.
Police met with Brittany Berlin Knight at the McDonald's on North Street, where she reported that her 1996 Geo Metro had been stolen.
Knight's car had been involved in a crash on I-26 at North Roan, and the driver had fled the scene, police said.
Knight was arrested about 9 p.m. Sunday and charged with false reporting and leaving the scene of an accident.
She was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance today.
