Update: Navy recruiter who had been relieved of duty arrested after shooting 2 people at Naval facility in Tennessee

MILLINGTON — U.S. Navy officials say a suspect is in custody after a shooting on Navy property at a facility in Tennessee.

A tweet on the Navy's official Twitter page says Naval Support Activity Midsouth in Millington, near Memphis, is on lockdown. One person is in custody, according to the Navy.

A Navy recruiter who had been relieved of duty shot two people at a Navy base north of Memphis and was quickly taken into custody, according to a law enforcement official who had been briefed on the developments.

The injuries were not life-threatening, said that official and another official, both of whom spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly.

The Associated Press is reporting in a breaking news alert that the shooting took place at or near the base in Millington

The United States Navy's Twitter Account confirmed there was an "incident near Naval Support Activity Mid-South" in Millington. Some reports indicate that at least four people were shot.

The AP reported that the shooter was in custody and the facility was locked down
