ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County man was arrested last week on charges including filing a false report and misuse of official information after he allegedly faked a suicide attempt to gain sympathy from his girlfriend.

Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Reba Matthews was dispatched a residence on Berry Road just north of Bulls Gap around 10:21 p.m. Thursday on a complaint of an attempted suicide by hanging.

A woman reportedly told Matthews she arrived home to find her boyfriend, George Thomas Murr, 25, 4140 Van Hill Road, Rogersville, lying on the ground with a rope around his neck, but he was still breathing.
