Another defendant claims 'In God We Trust' signs trampled rights

CLINTON — Another criminal defendant is seeking to have charges against him dismissed because “In God We Trust” signs erected over Anderson County Courthouse doorways are allegedly violating his constitutional rights.

The motion on behalf of Floyd Hammond Jr., 65, of Knoxville, jailed and awaiting court action on several drug and theft charges dating back to 2008, was filed Tuesday in Anderson County Criminal Court.

A similar legal action was filed a week ago on behalf of Kenneth Darrin Fisher, also a client of Clinton attorney David A. Stuart.
