ELIZABETHTON — The Carter County Sheriff's Department made a quick arrest in a burglary that occurred late Wednesday night in Liberty Hollow.

Two people were arrested, a juvenile and an adult, John Brock Bobo Jr., 18, 197 Flora Dugger Road. Bobo was charged with burglary.

Deputy Brian Smithpeters said the burglary was to an unoccupied house of a man who had died a year ago. Neighbors observed activity at the house and called the daughter of the deceased resident.

They went to the home and found an Isuzu Rodeo had been backed up the driveway to the residence and the lock on the front door had been broken. As they entered the home, they heard loud banging in the rear. They went to that section of the house to find the back door lock had been broken and the burglars had left on foot.

Smithpeters said the burglars had gone to another neighbor and claimed their vehicle had broken down. The neighbor took them back to where they had parked the Isuzu, where Smithpeters was able to arrest them.

Bobo is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on June 3.
