BLOUNTVILLE — A settlement has been reached in Sullivan County Sheriff Wayne Anderson’s lawsuit seeking more funds for his department from the county, avoiding a trial that was set to begin Wednesday morning.

Anderson and Sullivan County Mayor Steve Godsey reportedly agreed to the settlement on Monday night, with the announcement made Wednesday morning in Chancery Court in Bristol, Tenn.

Terms of the settlement are said to include a two percent raise for Sheriff's Office employees, retroactive to April 1. Godsey said the Sullivan County Commission will also consider extending that raise to all county employees for the fiscal year set to begin July 1.
