KNOXVILLE — The city of Knoxville expects to save $90,000 a year by ending an incentive program that encourages people to recycle, city staff announced in a news release Wednesday.

Called Recyclebank, the program awards points to people who recycle based upon the weight of the glass, paper and other recyclables they toss in city-issued bins.

“Our participation in Recyclebank is low,” David Brace, Knoxville’s public service director, said Wednesday.
