KINGSPORT — A Kingsport woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing furniture and appliances from a vacant, neighboring home, then attempting to sell them in a yard sale outside her residence.
Megan Knapp, 24, of 1223 Bell Ridge Drive, was arrested Saturday and charged with burglary and theft of more than $500. The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office reports a well-worn path was found leading from the victim's residence to that of Knapp — directly next door — where she was trying to sell a stolen freezer chest, tables, entertainment center, dresser and desk.
The rightful owner of the property called police on Saturday afternoon. SCSO Public Information Officer Leslie Earhart says the man's parents used to live in a mobile home next door to Knapp, but have since passed away.
