Deputies say Hawkins Co. man high on meds drives through wheat field

CHURCH HILL — A Hawkins County man accused of crashing through a barbed wire fence early Monday morning and tearing up about 300 yards of wheat before his pickup died was allegedly high on medication.
Jordan Royce Pumphrey, 26, 103 Heritage Drive, Rogersville, was arraigned Monday in Hawkins County Sessions Court on charges including DUI fourth offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Shortly after midnight Monday morning Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Stacy Vaughan was dispatched to an accident on Carters Valley Road just west of Church Hill near the Fudges Chapel Road intersection.
