Police this morning confirmed the identity of a man shot and dropped off at Johnson City Medical Center Wednesday afternoon.
Johnson City Police Department Capt. Mike Street said the victim, Quinton Rogers, told medical staff he did not want police called, but hospitals are required by law to report violent injuries.
Rogers was in surgery when police arrived and was incapacitated afterward late Wednesday night, leaving investigators unable to talk with him. Hospital staff told detectives it would this afternoon at the earliest before Rogers could be interviewed, Street said.
"We're not sure it happened in Johnson City," Street said. "All we know is he was dropped out at the Medical Center."
Rogers was dropped at the ambulance entrance to the JCMC emergency department about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.
The car's driver left the area before medical personnel could tend to Rogers, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach.
Street said investigators had spoken with the driver in an attempt to get some information. No charges had been placed.
Street declined to identify the driver, saying the investigation remained open.
