ELIZABETHTON — A woman was arrested by the Carter County Sheriff’s Department on Monday after she allegedly pulled a shotgun down from the wall and threatened her husband with it.

Jimmi Colbaugh Tweitmann, 27, 166 High Tower Road, was arrested Monday morning on a charge of aggravated assault. She is scheduled to answer the charge in Sessions Court on May 6.

Deputy Ross Frizzell said he responded to a call at the Tweitmann residence on a child custody complaint. When he arrived, he spoke with Andrew Tweitmann, who said he had caught his wife cheating on him and he had gone to her room to confront her and get their children.

Frizzell said Mr. Tweitmann said that when he tried to get the children, his wife took the shotgun, got on the phone and threatened to kill him if he tried to take them. Frizzell said Mr. Tweitmann recorded the incident with a digital recorder and took a picture of his wife with the shotgun.

Frizzell said Mrs. Tweitmann admitted she took the shotgun from the wall, but said it was not loaded.

The couple told Frizzell they are married but separated and have equal custody of the children.
